Laws
- Council Directive 2004/38/EC was implemented in Dutch legislation on 30 April 2006 with the introduction of the amended Vw 2000 and the amended Vb 2000168. Rules for practical implementation were included in the Vc 2000169. (A detailed description of the logic behind the Netherlands transposition can be read here)
- IND discussion about Directive 2003/109/EC. This should now have direct effect in the Netherlands if it has not been transposed into national law.
Government departments
- http://www.ind.nl This is the government department which deals with immigration issues. Their web site is pretty but very disorganized and hard to navigate

I’m Australian & my girlfriend is Hungarian, we were wanting to move to Amsterdam and i would love to apply for same sex de facto relationship. What is the process involved, how long does it take and would me not knowing the dutch language be a hindrance in the selection process?

I would be grateful if anyone could give me information about the transposition of the long-term residents directive in the Netherlands, mainly, about the transposition of its Chapter III. Can long term residents from other Eu member States come to the Netherlands?

@ J.
Your mother does not need an mvv, a simple visa will do and it should be issued to her free of charge.
However, you have to proove you are financially supporting her and such support is necessary for her to maintain a normal standard of living in her country.

@ Rae.
No problem, just come over and proof some financial means.
(I tried to give a more detailed answer, but it failed to be published).
