  • Luxembourg has decided, for the time being, not to customize Directive 2004/38/EC to local law by doing a transposition. That means that the Directive itself is now part of Luxembourg law. (Ref: Commission response to an MEP’s question)

    It also states that a family member of an EU/EEA/SWISS national, that needs a short stay visa, if in possession of a family residence card /permit issued by any other EU member state is allow entry.

    Pour entrer sur le territoire luxembourgeois, le citoyen de l’Union européenne (ou ressortissant d’un des pays assimilés) doit posséder une carte d’identité nationale ou un passeport en cours de validité. Les membres de sa famille ressortissants d’un pays tiers doivent être en possession d’un passeport en cours de validité, le cas échéant muni du visa requis (ou d’une carte de séjour délivrée par un autre Etat membre de l’Union européenne).
